This is my first blog ever and I have know idea what I'm doing...so bare with me.
A verse was braught up in our Tuesday night men's team.
Jeremiah 29:11 ( NIV )
"For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
“declares the LORD” declare means to make known formally, officially, or explicitly. The Lord tells us here that there are plans for us and He already knows what they are. The Lord assures us, just as He did them, the things that happen are not just a bunch of unplanned events. He has ok’d everything that’s has happened or will happen to you as His child. Situations would sometimes appear at first that they would hurt or harm us. When in fact, they are there to strengthen us to a point that we can move forward and prosper whether it be in mind, body, spirit, or even in some cases financially. God’s purpose in doing this is that we as His kids have a hope and a future. This is what any good father would want for his children.
I am really interested in what others would take away from this verse. As a child of God I am always learning and a part of that is learning from those around me. Please feel free to post your feelings or thoughts on this verse.
Because we believe that God is sovereign over everything, we tend to also believe that He must have ordained and designed everything that comes our way. So when evil comes, we tend to get upset at God for allowing it. That's why we need to remember verses like this so that we don't fall into the enemy's trap of accusing God of wishing us ill. I'm reading Job right now and I notice that although he didn't curse God, he did mistakenly believe that God's intentions are randomly good and evil so he lost all hope of even praying. Many don't believe that God cares or will answer them if they pray.
